History of the kennel

Kennel Of The Three Turnip’s beginning can be traced back to 1966 when Freek Nierop acquired his first Dalmatian. In 1967 Freek bought his first Weimaraner. In 1996 he got a Basset Artesién Norman too.

Freek’s first Weimaraner was Cherry van Slotzicht. Short time later he imported his first Weimaraners from the UK, Hawsvale Cherry Brandy and Monroes Supremo. All these three dogs became Dutch Showchampion and they where the first of an endless row of champs bred by Freek Nierop.

In 2005 Coen van de Wijdeven became co-owner of Kennel Of The Three Turnip’s. How it started? Well, Coen bought his first ‘family pet’ in 2002 named Sir Amon Of The Three Turnip’s. He didn’t want to show his dog but Freek asked him to come to the clubmatch of the Dutch Weimaraner Association, just once... Amon won his class and Coen wanted to go to one more show... that was the beginning of the addiction! Amon became in a short time Dutch Show Champion.
Two years later in 2004, Coen got his first bitch, Lady Cherry Of The Three Turnip’s, named after Freek’s first bitch Cherry van Slotzicht. Cherry’s father is Ansona Jumping Jack. Cherry became Dutch Show Champion and qualified for Crufts at the Amsterdam Winnershow ‘05, she became Junior Winster´05!
Again two years later (2006) Coen got his second bitch, Lady Djazzmin Of The Three Turnip’s. Djazzmin’s father is Sh Ch Ansona Gamekeeper at Aarranz. Djazzmin became Junior Winster ‘07 (Crufts qualification), Dutch Show Champion in 2008 and got second in her class at Windsor ‘08 (Crufts qualification)!
In 2008 Cherry became her first litter (F-litter). We kept a girl called Fawlty (named after Fawlty Towers). Shw is a great caracter! She does very good at shows, is already a Junior Champ at 13 months, got 2 titels, Juniorwinster and Winster and qualified for Crufts 2010!
IN 2009 Cherry became het second litter (G-litter).

We, Coen & Nicole, aim to breed healthy Weimaraners with a good temperament. The Weimaraner needs firm but fair discipline, lots of exercise and an occupation such as being a gundog or a close companion. If you cannot provide discipline, exercise and occupation, it is better to choose another breed. As a companion he is fearless, good hearted, obedient, very sensitive, extremely courageous and always wanting to please. Our Weimaraners can be used for hunting, as a family pet, showing, obedience and much more!
